The United States military has reported the deaths of three service members during its operations against Iran, marking the first US casualties amidst ongoing hostilities that escalated with airstrikes that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Five other US personnel were seriously wounded, as CENTCOM confirmed that minor injuries were also sustained by several more.
The US and Israel have intensified their attacks on Iran, with President Donald Trump emphasizing the campaign’s goal of removing Iran’s government.
In response, Iran has launched retaliatory strikes against US assets in the Middle East, raising concerns of a broader regional conflict.
As tensions escalate, calls for congressional debate on the military actions are growing, while Trump expressed confidence in the operation’s progress, asserting that strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities were crucial in preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Iran’s Foreign Minister warned of no limits to their self-defense following the attacks.
