Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG) has used the occasion of International Women’s Day to honour the late Sise Jaha Sawaneh, a female sports journalist who passed away in 2019.
The Association described her as a trailblazing Gambian sports journalist and broadcaster at GRTS who broke barriers in a male-dominated field.
“Known for her courage and commitment, she passed away in 2019, leaving a legacy of empowerment and dedicated storytelling. Sise was the 2nd Vice President of the SJAG.”
The President of The Sports Journalists’ Association Mr. Omar Jarju said Sise was not just a reporter, she was a voice for equality in Gambian sports media.
“Sise broke down barriers, inspired a new generation of female sports journalists in The Gambia. We will always remember her as a dedicated professional whose impact on media and women’s empowerment remains profound,” he concluded.
