The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, Hon. Sering Modou Njie, along with Permanent Secretary Ambassador Lang Yabou and Director Swaibou Barry, received the Secretary of State for Senegalese Abroad of the Republic of Senegal, Mr. Amadou Cherif Diouf, at the Ministerโ€™s office in Banjul.

Mr. Diouf is in The Gambia for a working visit aimed at strengthening cooperation on issues regarding Senegalese nationals living abroad and migration management.

He was accompanied by H.E. Mariame Sy, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Senegal to The Gambia.

The discussions focused on the strong and historic bilateral relations between The Gambia and Senegal, emphasizing areas of mutual interest, such as migration, consular affairs, and the welfare of Senegalese and Gambian nationals in both countries.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing collaboration in addressing migration-related challenges and improving institutional cooperation for the benefit of their citizens.

As part of his agenda, the Secretary of State is scheduled to visit Farafenni on February 20, 2026.

This visit will provide an opportunity for Mr. Diouf to engage directly with the significant Senegalese community residing there and to discuss their concerns.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates The Gambiaโ€™s dedication to maintaining and deepening its excellent relations with the Republic of Senegal.
