Her Excellency Salimatta E. T. Touray, Non-Resident High Commissioner of The Gambia to Rwanda, presented her Letters of Credence to President Paul Kagame on March 6, 2026.
This ceremony officially accredited her as The Gambiaโs High Commissioner. Ambassador Touray conveyed warm greetings from President Adama Barrow of The Gambia and identified key areas for cooperation between the two countries, including security, capacity building, agriculture, migration management, and youth unemployment initiatives.
After the meeting, she highlighted Rwanda as a valuable partner and expressed The Gambiaโs commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties.
She mentioned the interest in learning from Rwandaโs advancements in digital governance, particularly through the ๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐๐บ๐๐ฃ platform.
Touray noted ongoing cooperation since the signing of a General Framework of Cooperation in 2021, which includes security, public service reform, and judicial collaboration.
She also discussed potential educational exchanges in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and legal education.
She emphasized the importance of trade and investment in enhancing bilateral relations, especially within the African Continental Free Trade Area, and both governments are exploring ways to promote these opportunities.
